Constant Contact Integration

Sync your Readybuild contacts with Constant Contact for email marketing campaigns. Contacts added or updated in Readybuild automatically sync to your selected Constant Contact list.

The Constant Contact integration provides:

  • Automatic contact sync from Readybuild to Constant Contact
  • List selection to choose where contacts are added
  • One-way synchronization keeping your email lists current
  • Secure OAuth connection with PKCE for enhanced security

Prerequisites

Before setting up the integration, ensure you have:

  • An active Constant Contact account
  • At least one contact list created in Constant Contact
  • Administrator access in Readybuild

Setup Instructions

Step 1: Navigate to Integration Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations in Readybuild
  2. Find Constant Contact in the list
  3. Click Configure

Step 2: Connect Your Constant Contact Account

  1. Click the Connect Constant Contact button
  2. You'll be redirected to Constant Contact's login page
  3. Sign in to your Constant Contact account
  4. Review the permissions requested (contact data access)
  5. Click Allow to authorize Readybuild

After authorization, you'll return to Readybuild with a "Connected" status.

Step 3: Select Your List

Once connected, choose which Constant Contact list receives your contacts:

  1. The Select List dropdown shows all your Constant Contact lists
  2. Each list displays its name and contact count
  3. Select the appropriate list
  4. Click Save Settings

When Contacts Sync

Contacts are synced to Constant Contact when:

  • A new contact is created in Readybuild
  • An existing contact's information is updated
  • A contact is marked for marketing communications

What Doesn't Sync

  • Contacts marked as "Do Not Contact"
  • Contacts without valid email addresses
  • Deletion of contacts (they remain in Constant Contact)
  • Changes made in Constant Contact (one-way sync only)

How Sync Works

Automatic Synchronization

Once configured, synchronization is automatic:

  1. Create or update a contact in Readybuild
  2. The contact is queued for sync
  3. Within minutes, the contact appears in your Constant Contact list
  4. Existing contacts are updated rather than duplicated

Subscriber Status

When contacts are synced:

  • New contacts are added as active subscribers
  • Updates modify existing contact information
  • Duplicate emails are matched and updated, not duplicated

Configuration Options

Changing Lists

To switch to a different Constant Contact list:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations > Constant Contact
  2. Select a different list from the dropdown
  3. Click Save Settings

Note: Changing lists only affects future syncs. Contacts already in the previous list remain there.

Testing the Connection

To verify your integration is working:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations > Constant Contact
  2. Click Test Connection
  3. A success message confirms the connection is active

  1. Log into Constant Contact
  2. Go to Contacts > Lists
  3. Select your synced list
  4. View contacts synced from Readybuild

Segmentation

While Readybuild syncs basic contact information, you can:

  • Create segments based on synced data
  • Add tags in Constant Contact for organization
  • Use contact data in your email campaigns

Troubleshooting

Connection Failed

Problem: Can't connect to Constant Contact

Solution:

  1. Ensure you're signing into the correct Constant Contact account
  2. Check that your account is active and in good standing
  3. Clear browser cookies and try again
  4. Try using a different browser or incognito mode

Contacts Not Syncing

Problem: New contacts don't appear in Constant Contact

Solution:

  1. Verify the contact has a valid email address
  2. Check that a list is selected in settings
  3. Click Test Connection to verify the integration
  4. Wait a few minutes—sync isn't instant

Authorization Expired

Problem: Sync stopped and shows "Disconnected"

Solution:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations > Constant Contact
  2. Click Connect Constant Contact to re-authorize
  3. Complete the sign-in process
  4. Select your list again

Duplicate Contacts

Problem: Same contact appears multiple times in Constant Contact

Solution: Constant Contact identifies contacts by email address. Duplicates typically occur when:

  • The same email exists with different casing
  • The contact was manually added before sync

To fix:

  1. Merge duplicates in Constant Contact
  2. Ensure consistent email formatting in Readybuild

Security

PKCE Authentication

The Constant Contact integration uses OAuth 2.0 with PKCE (Proof Key for Code Exchange), providing:

  • Enhanced security without storing client secrets
  • Protection against authorization code interception
  • Secure token exchange

Data Handling

  • Only authorized contact data is shared
  • No passwords are stored by Readybuild
  • Tokens can be revoked by disconnecting

Disconnecting the Integration

To disconnect Constant Contact:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations > Constant Contact
  2. Click Disconnect
  3. Confirm when prompted

What happens after disconnecting:

  • Contacts already in Constant Contact remain there
  • No future contacts will sync
  • You can reconnect at any time
