Overview
Readybuild supports importing data from CSV files and other systems. Whether you're migrating from another software platform or setting up your estimating database, these tools help you transfer your data efficiently.

Import Process Overview
General Steps
- Download Template - Get the CSV template for your data type
- Prepare Data - Format your data according to template specifications
- Validate - Check for errors and required fields
- Upload - Import the CSV file
- Review - Verify imported records
File Requirements
- Format: CSV (Comma-Separated Values)
- Encoding: UTF-8 recommended
- Size Limit: 100MB maximum
- Headers: First row must contain column headers
Best Practices
Before Importing:
- Back up existing data
- Clean and deduplicate source data
- Review required vs. optional fields
- Test with a small sample first
During Import:
- Use exact template column headers
- Don't skip required fields
- Format dates consistently
- Check special characters
After Import:
- Review import results email
- Spot-check imported records
- Address any failed rows
- Document any data transformations
Import Results
After uploading, you'll receive an email with:
- Summary - Total rows processed
- Success Count - Records imported
- Skipped Count - Duplicates or unchanged records
- Failed Count - Records with errors
- Error Details - Specific issues per row
Common Issues
File Format Problems
- Wrong delimiter - Use commas, not semicolons or tabs
- Encoding issues - Save as UTF-8
- Extra columns - Remove columns not in template
Data Quality Issues
- Missing required fields - Fill in all required columns
- Invalid references - Ensure linked records exist
- Duplicate entries - Check for existing records
Field Mapping
- Column name mismatch - Use exact template headers
- Wrong data format - Follow date/number formats specified
- Special characters - Avoid or properly escape quotes
