Managing Selection Options

Create selection categories and add options for customers to choose from.

Creating Selection Categories

Selection categories group related product choices.

Adding a Category

  1. Open the estimate
  2. Go to the Selections tab or section
  3. Click Add Selection Category
  4. Enter:
    • Category Name (e.g., "Kitchen Countertops")
    • Allowance Amount (budget included in estimate)
    • Description (optional - what's included)
  5. Click Save

Category Settings

Adding Selection Options

For each category, add options the customer can choose from.

Adding an Option

  1. Open the selection category
  2. Click Add Option
  3. Enter option details:
    • Name - Product name
    • Description - Details, specifications
    • Price - Cost of this option
    • Image - Product photo (recommended)
    • Manufacturer - Brand/supplier
    • SKU - Product code (optional)
  4. Click Save

Option Pricing

The option price determines the customer impact:

Option Price vs AllowanceResult
Option = AllowanceNo change to estimate
Option > AllowanceCustomer pays the difference (upgrade)
Option < AllowanceCustomer may receive credit

Adding Images

Images help customers make decisions:

  1. Click Add Image on the option
  2. Upload a product photo
  3. Images display in customer selection view

High-quality images significantly improve the selection experience.


Using the Selection Catalog

The selection catalog contains pre-configured products for quick option creation.

Adding from Catalog

  1. In your selection category, click Add from Catalog
  2. Browse or search for products
  3. Filter by:
    • Category
    • Manufacturer
    • Price range
  4. Select products to offer
  5. Pricing and details auto-populate

Best Practices for Creating Options

  • Provide variety - Offer options at different price points
  • Good/Better/Best - Include budget, mid-range, and premium choices

  • Update regularly - Keep catalog pricing current
  • Include installation - Factor in installation costs, not just materials
  • Consider lead times - Some selections require longer ordering time
