Sales by Project Type Report

The Sales by Project Type report shows revenue distribution across different project type categories, helping you understand which types of work contribute most to your sales.

Reports > Sales > Sales by Project Type

Report Overview

This report aggregates won project revenue by project type, showing:

  • Revenue per project type
  • Project counts by type
  • Percentage distribution of sales

Report Columns

Understanding Revenue Allocation

Multi-Type Projects

Projects can have multiple types with percentage allocations:

Example Project: $100,000 contract

  • Kitchen Remodel: 70% = $70,000
  • Electrical Upgrade: 30% = $30,000

Each type receives its proportional share in this report.

Single-Type Projects

Projects with one type receive 100% allocation to that category.

Report Totals

The footer shows:

  • Total Projects: Sum of project counts
  • Total Sold Amount: Combined revenue
  • Total Percent: Should equal 100%

Key Metrics

Percent of Sales

Calculated as: (Type Sold Amount / Total Sold Amount) × 100

This shows:

  • Business mix and focus areas
  • Revenue concentration or diversification
  • Strategic alignment with goals

Project Total

Number of projects with this type:

  • Indicates demand patterns
  • Shows workload distribution
  • Helps with capacity planning

Empty Results Handling

If no data is found for the selected criteria, the report displays:

  • "No data found for the selected criteria"
  • Adjust date range or filters to find data

Export Options

Click Export CSV to download:

  • All project type rows
  • Revenue allocations
  • Percentage breakdowns
  • Totals row

Tips

  • Default date range is January 1 to today of current year
  • Project types must be assigned to projects to appear
  • Percentages are based on type allocation on projects
  • Compare to Macro Sales for lead-to-sale analysis
  • Use with consultant filter for individual performance

Prerequisites

For Data to Appear

  1. Project Types Configured: Set up in Settings > Project Types
  2. Types Assigned: Projects must have type assignments
  3. Won Projects: Only won (closed) projects included
  4. Close Dates: Actual close date must be set
