Design Sales Report

The Design Sales report lists design projects that closed — or are forecast to close — in the period you select, with the budget predicted for each one alongside what it actually sold for.

Report Overview

A project appears on this report when all of the following are true:

  • It has a planning stage set. This is what makes it design work; projects without one never appear.
  • Its stage is Won or Lost. Projects still in progress are not listed.
  • Either its actual close date falls in the selected range, or — when it has no actual close date yet — its predicted close date does.

Because of that last rule the report mixes settled and forecast work: a row with an actual close date has closed, and a row with only a predicted close date has not.

Report Columns

ColumnDescription
PIDProject number. Click it to open the project.
ClientClient last name, first name
TitleProject title
DesignerThe project's planning team leader
Sales PersonThe consultant on the project
Predicted BudgetBudget expected when the project was scoped
Sold AmountWhat the project actually sold for — zero on a lost project
Predicted Close DateForecast close date
Actual Close DateReal close date, blank if the project has not closed

Several of these headings follow your own field labels, so they may read differently in your account.

Available Filters

FilterDescription
Actual Close Date From / ToThe period the report covers. Defaults to the current calendar month.
Date PeriodPreset ranges that fill in the dates for you
UserMatches the project's designer or its sales person, so one person's name finds everything they touched
DivisionLimit to specific divisions (opportunity types)
FunctionOperational or Internal
Work TypeFull Project, Service, Warranty, Evaluation or Non-Billable
Division, Function & Work Type filters

The Division, Function, and Work Type filters appear only for companies that classify their divisions (using more than one function or work type). See Divisions for how these classifications are configured.

The three filters are combined: a project is included only when it matches every filter at once. For example, selecting the Handyman (Internal) and Design Build (Operational) divisions together with the Internal function shows Handyman only — it is the sole division that satisfies both.

Leaving a filter blank places no restriction on that dimension, so it reads as "All". Selecting Internal for Function with Division and Work Type blank gives the entire Internal compartment.

Filter selections are kept in the page address, so you can bookmark a filtered view or paste the link to a colleague and they will see the same numbers.

Report Totals

The footer totals the Predicted Budget and Sold Amount columns across every row shown. Because lost projects are included with a sold amount of zero, the sold total is what the period actually produced while the predicted total covers everything that was scoped.

Sorting

Click any column heading to sort by it; click again to reverse. Rows start sorted by client name.

Common Use Cases

1. Month-End Design Review

Leave the dates on the current month and read the two totals together: predicted against sold for everything that resolved this month.

2. One Designer's Book

Pick a name in the User filter to see every project that person led or sold, won and lost side by side.

3. Forecast Check

Rows with a predicted close date and no actual close date are the work still expected to land in the period. Watch that list shrink as the month closes out.

4. Estimate Accuracy

Compare Predicted Budget against Sold Amount row by row to see how closely early scoping tracked the final contract.

Export Options

Click Export CSV to download every row as shown, in the current sort order, with the totals row appended.
