Keyboard Shortcuts

The Gantt chart supports comprehensive keyboard navigation for efficient task management without using the mouse.

General Shortcuts

These shortcuts work anywhere in the Gantt chart:

Ctrl + Z	Undo last change
Ctrl + Shift + Z	Redo (alternative)

Mac Users

• Ctrl = Command (⌘)
• Alt = Option (⌥)

Task Navigation

Move between tasks and cells in the grid:

Arrow Up	Move to previous task
Arrow Down	Move to next task
Arrow Left	Move to previous column
Arrow Right	Move to next column
Page Up	Scroll up one page
Page Down	Scroll down one page
Home	Go to first cell in row
End	Go to last cell in row

Task Actions

Perform actions on the selected task:

Enter	Start inline editing in current cell
F2	Start inline editing in current cell
Delete	Delete selected task
Escape	Cancel editing / Close dialog
Double-click task bar	Open task editor dialog

Tree (Hierarchy) Navigation

Control the visibility and structure of parent/child tasks:

Shortcut	Action
Space	Toggle expand/collapse on parent task
Shift + Arrow Right	Expand parent task (show children)
Shift + Arrow Left	Collapse parent task (hide children)

Indent and Outdent

Change the indentation level of tasks to create hierarchy:

Shortcut	Action
Alt + Shift + Arrow Right	Indent task (make it a child of the task above)
Alt + Shift + Arrow Left	Outdent task (move it up one level in hierarchy)

How Indent Works

When you press Alt + Shift + Arrow Right:

1. The task becomes a child of the task directly above it
2. The parent task automatically expands
3. The task appears nested under its new parent

How Outdent Works

When you press Alt + Shift + Arrow Left:

1. The task moves to the same level as its current parent
2. It's positioned directly after its former parent
3. Any siblings remain under the original parent

Inline Editing

When editing a cell:

Shortcut	Action
Enter	Save changes and move to next row
Tab	Save changes and move to next cell
Shift + Tab	Save changes and move to previous cell
Escape	Cancel editing without saving

Keyboard Navigation Tips

Getting Started

1. Click anywhere in the Gantt chart to give it focus
2. Use Arrow Up/Down to move between tasks
3. Use Arrow Left/Right to move between columns
4. Press Enter or F2 to edit the current cell inline
5. Double-click a task bar to open the full task editor dialog

Efficient Workflows

Inline cell editing:

1. Navigate to the cell you want to edit
2. Press Enter or F2 to start editing
3. Make your changes
4. Press Enter to save and move to next row, or Escape to cancel

Task editor dialog:

1. Double-click a task bar in the timeline to open the full task editor
2. Make changes across the General, Resources, or Advanced tabs
3. Press Save or Escape to cancel

Reorganizing task hierarchy:

1. Navigate to the task you want to move
2. Use Alt + Shift + Arrow Right to indent (make child)
3. Use Alt + Shift + Arrow Left to outdent (move up level)

Expanding/collapsing tasks:

1. Navigate to a parent task (one with children)
2. Press Space to toggle expand/collapse
3. Or use Shift + Arrow Right to expand, Shift + Arrow Left to collapse
