Selections
Company-wide settings that control how selections behave for everyone in your company.
Overview
This page holds the settings that apply to all selections, rather than to one estimate or one catalog item. There are two today: whether estimators can pull from the shared Global Catalog, and whether clients see allowance dollar amounts.
Both are on/off switches. Each one saves the moment you flip it, and a Selection settings saved. confirmation appears — there is no Save button.

Global Catalog
Allow the Global Catalog on selections
| State | What happens |
|---|---|
| On | The selection panel on an estimate shows both a Company Catalog tab and a Global Catalog tab, so a selection can be filled straight from the shared Readybuild library. Applying a global item copies its details onto that one selection — it does not add anything to your company catalog. |
| Off (default) | The selection panel offers your company catalog only. The Global Catalog tab is not shown. |
Turning this off does not hide the Global Catalog tab in the Selections Catalog. Your catalog manager can still browse it and copy items into the company catalog — those copies are ordinary company items and stay available to estimators either way.
Use off when you want every selection to come from items you have reviewed and priced yourself. Use on when you want estimators to reach the full manufacturer library without a copy step first.
Client Visibility
Hide allowance amounts from clients
| State | What happens |
|---|---|
| On | Allowance dollar amounts are removed from client-facing selection views. |
| Off (default) | Clients see the allowance amount alongside each selection. |
When this is on, the amounts are hidden in three places:
- The client portal selection review
- The review selections page you share with a client
- Printed selection sheets and allowance sheets — the Allowance and difference columns, and the allowance totals rows, are dropped
This is a display setting only. Allowances still drive pricing exactly as before, and your team continues to see the amounts everywhere internally — on the estimate, in job costing, and on reports.
Overage amounts are still calculated and still charged when a client picks an item above its allowance. Hiding the amount changes what the client sees, not what they are billed.
Permissions
Both settings require the Company Setup permission. Users without it do not see Settings → Projects → Selections in the menu, and the server rejects any attempt to change these values.
